Setrue - Philip Brooks' Patent Infringement Updates

Philip Brooks' Patent Infringement wrote on his blog...

Jacob Zoarets, founder and CTO of Transformer Software Ltd, wrote to me today to describe his Israel-based start-up company. He founded the Company eight years ago. Transformer is a technology oriented company that focuses its efforts on building a semantic parsing system based on a cutting edge linguistic framework developed at Tel Aviv University.

Transformer has recognized the problem that exists in the patent search market, that is, an accurate semantic parsing system that can actually "understand" or represent written English texts in a well formed XML structure. The Company focused its semantic search capabilities to resolve the problems of patent searching and built a semantic search engine dedicated only to the patent market called Setrue Semantic Patent Search Engine. Currently the engine contains patents and patent applications from the USPTO, EPO with weekly updates and more databases will be acquired in the near future.

Setrue Semantic Patent Search system is a professional search system with features that include:

1. Natural language query capabilities.
2. Query auto-complete suggestions.
3. Detailed class directory structure enabling a one click segmentation of search results to a specific patent class.
4. Dynamic clustering of search results by classes
5. Dynamic clustering of search results by years
6. Dynamic clustering of search results by assignees.
7. Similar patents segmentation.
8. Dynamic weighting of search terms
9. Highlighting of search terms in documents
10. A well formed tabbed patent representation
11. Detailed advanced search capabilities.
12. Dynamic list of law firms specialized in the field of the user's query filtered by expertise and the user's geographic location proximity.
13. Set of professional services maintained by Setrue's team of expert lawyers and law firms.

Setrue's vision is to strengthen the online connection among inventors, entrepreneurs and companies and the professional IP service providers like law firms and individual attorneys. Setrue's business model is not based on Google advertisements, but instead on dividing its potential target audience into two groups:

1. The professional audience including; law firms, private lawyers, patent search agencies, litigation lawyers and corporations that will be asked to acquire an attractive license deal that will include:

* A commercial license to use the search system and all its features.
* A targeted advertisement that would appear next to queries involving the professional's expertise.
* A redirection of patent services requested by inventors.

2. The private inventors, entrepreneurs and companies that will have access to:

* Free usage of a professional system.
* Services offered by the site's professionals.
* Professionals' sites specialized in the areas of interest to the inventors and geographically close.

Online Provisional Patent Application

Hi,
Today, in the digital age, we can get almost every service online, and the patent offices around the world are no different. The USPTO (us patent office) provides a service that is less costly and used by many companies as a first step towards a full patent application, this service is called Online Provisional Patent Application, what this service basically allows you to do is to write your own patent application by yourself and the USPTO register this patent application with a specific patent number and from this day you have one year to register the full patent. This service is very useful because it lets you have a patent registered but keeps your application hidden before anyone will see your application and while all this happens you get the first date where you registered the patent. This service costs much less then a full patent application because there is no need for an expensive attorney to write your patent, you are charged only for the taxes and application fees.
This service has one disadvantage; you have to know how to write a patent, and also you have to know is your idea has been registered before by someone else.
In order to deal with these issues, there are a lot of tools on the web to search for patents; one of the very good ones is Setrue Semantic Search Engine, this search engine searches the world wide patent databases for patents similar to your idea. This patent search engine also has a unique service to write your patent application called Online Provisional Patent Application, you fills its form and a Patent Expert edits your writings and checks to validate that your patent is written properly, only then the Patent Expert fills the provisional patent application for you, sends the forms to the USPTO in your behalf and sends you a copy of your application along with your patent number issued by the USPTO. Using this service costs a very small fee plus the USPTO fees, but it costs much less then the alternatives.
I'm very much recommending using this service before registering a patent application yourself. That is what the experts are doing.
